Software Development Manager, Amazon Music

Key job responsibilities

As a Software Development Manager (SDM) for Amazon Music team, you would be managing a talented team of engineers building technical solutions that offer exciting features to customers in countries/geographies having different cultures than other global/established markets. You are expected to be a leader with an entrepreneurial mindset to ideate and innovate on behalf of the customers in markets having local experiences and apply technology to develop solutions. You identify customer problems, demonstrate excellent judgement skills in decision making, mentoring and growing talent. You inspire people, motivate the team, drive the culture of innovation, implement engineering best practices, and have commitment and grit to deliver results. You define technical and business strategy which generates a positive experience for customers who consume music from different interfaces such as Android, iOS, Amazon Web/Shopping App, etc., depending on the local needs of the customers in markets. You are an engineering leader in driving Operational Excellence by defining strategies, influencing roadmaps, and raising the bar for our customers. As an engineering leader, you would be working directly with Music product management and various engineering leaders across Amazon to influence, design, and deliver the organizational goals.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 5+ years of engineering team management experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers.
