We offer experiences that serve all listeners with our different tiers of service: Prime members get access to all the music in shuffle mode, and top ad-free podcasts, included with their membership; customers can upgrade to Amazon Music Unlimited for unlimited, on-demand access to 100 million songs, including millions in HD, Ultra HD, and spatial audio; and anyone can listen for free by downloading the Amazon Music app or via Alexa-enabled devices.

We are looking for a Senior Software Development Manager with a strong technical background and a passion for digital audio entertainment. We are revolutionizing how customers experience music, podcasts and audiobooks through personalized recommendations and novel listening features. We are innovating with Machine Learning technologies, including Large Language Models, to enhance content recommendations and create more engaging listening experiences. As a technical leader, you’ll have ownership of key product and technology components required to deliver state-of-the-art audio experiences across multiple surfaces including mobile apps, browser, voice-forward products, and in-car integrations. You'll work on fast-paced, challenging projects that directly impact how millions of customers engage with audio content.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Lead a team of scientists and engineers developing innovative ways to experience and discover audio across Amazon Music’s vast catalog.
  2. Build and scale services to serve tens of millions of customers.
  3. Contribute to the vision, goals, and technical strategy in alignment with customer needs and market opportunities.
  4. Mentor scientists and engineers, provide leadership on complex technical issues, design trade-offs, and feature and schedule prioritization.
  5. Experiment with and launch new features that improve content engagement and measure their impact.
  6. Manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an agile environment.
  7. Interface with other Amazon teams across geographies, working cross functionally with product, science and engineering collaborators.
  8. Partner with senior leaders to develop strategic vision for Amazon Music's listening experience.

A day in the life

You will lead a team of applied scientists and engineers crafting delightful audio experiences. You'll leverage AI and machine learning to revolutionize how customers engage with audio content. Your day will involve leading large-scale, customer-facing services that directly impact the listening experience across multiple platforms. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers and applied scientists. With your expertise in cloud architectures and distributed systems, you'll ensure these solutions are scalable, reliable, and responsible, while continuously innovating to deliver personalized experiences that work seamlessly across devices and platforms.

About the team

Our team works with AI technologies to transform how customers discover and engage with music and podcasts. We are focused on building personalized and dynamic experiences that allow customers to use natural language to find the content they already love and discover new content they’ll love just as much. These experiences work seamlessly across our mobile apps, web player, voice-forward audio engagement products on mobile and Amazon Echo devices, in car integrations and more. Amazon Music is available in countries around the world, and our applications support our mission of delivering music and podcasts to customers in new and exciting ways that enhance their day-to-day lives.
