As an Engineering Manager, you'll lead a diverse, high-performing team to ensure the accuracy, accessibility, compliance, and confidentiality of datasets critical for offer ranking, legal compliance, and deriving business insights. Collaborate with engineering, scientific, and legal stakeholders in offer ranking, advertisement, analytics, and pricing teams to power simulations, model refreshes, and compliance with precision and speed. Key job responsibilities
  1. Team Leadership and Development: Lead and mentor a diverse team of software and data engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, operational excellence, and continuous learning while driving the development of scalable and efficient data processing systems.
  2. Data Governance and Compliance: Ensure the accuracy, accessibility, compliance, and confidentiality of the datasets, enabling seamless support for scientific innovations, business analytics, legal inquiries, and cross-functional stakeholder needs.
  3. Technical Strategy and Delivery: Define and execute the technical vision for the team improving the precision and speed of innovation in the product detail page.
  4. Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with key teams, including teams in Buying Experience, Offer ranking, Ads, Analytics, and Pricing, to deliver impactful data solutions that drive key business metrics and enable strategic decision-making.
  5. Operational Excellence: Drive robust mechanisms for monitoring, anomaly detection, troubleshooting, and optimizing data pipelines, ensuring 24/7 reliability and scalability to process tens of terabytes of data daily across five unique datasets.
About the team

The Buying Experience (BuyX) team aims to provide the world’s best product and offer evaluation experience globally. A key focus is the Featured Merchant Algorithm (FMA), which selects the best-value offers for customers and drives the "Add to Cart" experience, impacting billions of interactions daily across Amazon's platforms. Supporting FMA, the Business data Orchestration and Logging Technologies (BOLT) team manages ~1 Petabyte of data, enabling model training, leadership reporting, and offer analysis. BOLT ensures compliance and seamless access to datasets using Amazon and AWS tools, continuously improving pricing, metrics, and machine learning models for a superior customer experience.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 7+ years of engineering experience
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
