Job summary

Davies Group is seeking a Software Development Lead to guide a development squad in delivering secure, scalable software. You will mentor engineers, shape delivery plans, and collaborate with product, architecture, and platform teams to ensure reliable live operations.

The role focuses on .NET back-end leadership with potential full-stack work in React/TypeScript, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud native solutions on Azure. Hybrid/remote options within the UK may apply.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience delivering production software with technical leadership.
• Experience owning complex technical decisions from requirements to live operation.
• Ability to lead through influence, coach engineers, and clarify complex delivery environments.
• Strong fundamentals in secure coding, maintainability, testing, observability, performance, and resilience.
• Ability to make architectural decisions and set practical engineering standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for stakeholders and leadership.
• Experience in iterative product-delivery environments and production support.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and maintain secure, observable production software, guiding high-risk areas.
• Lead, coach, and mentor engineers through pairing, code reviews, and feedback.
• Collaborate to shape delivery plans, provide estimates, manage dependencies and scope.
• Provide technical direction with Architecture for design, security, deployment, and readiness.
• Clarify requirements with product managers and analysts to translate priorities into outcomes.
• Maintain engineering standards for source control, testing, documentation, and releases.
• Own technical assurance through code reviews, quality controls, and security scanning.
• Support CI/CD improvements with GitHub Actions and Azure Pipelines; rely on Platform for shared tooling.
• Ensure deployments have proper environment controls, gates, secrets management, and rollback plans.
• Contribute cloud-native design on Azure; address security, resilience, cost, and performance.
• Contribute to IaC changes with Terraform; coordinate with Platform for larger infra processes.
• Communicate progress, risks, and decisions clearly to engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
• Identify and manage technical and delivery risks across security, dependencies, and performance.
