Arcus FM Limited is seeking a Software Development Engineer to design, implement, and maintain software applications that drive client success. The role supports mostly remote work with a monthly Redditch office presence.

You will collaborate with product managers and designers, write and deploy code, troubleshoot systems, and document processes while adopting SDLC and agile methods. A relevant degree and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional experience in software development engineering.
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages and frameworks: JS, React, NodeJS/ExpressJS, Python, SQL, CSS.
• Understanding of front-end and back-end development and SDLC/agile methods.
• Experience with databases (MySQL, SQL Server) and Git for version control.

Although this role allows for primarily remote working, there is a requirement to attend the Redditch office at least once a month.

What You'll Be Doing

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including designers, product managers, and fellow developers to deliver scalable, high-quality software solutions

• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems to improve performance and security
• Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation
• Drive innovation by proposing and implementing new technologies to enhance development processes and product performance
• Work closely with stakeholders to understand and translate technical and business requirements into actionable solutions

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Professional experience in software development engineering
• Strong problem-solving skills and an innovative mindset
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages and frameworks, including JavaScript (JS), React, NodeJS (ExpressJS), Python, SQL, and CSS
• Solid understanding of front-end and back-end development
• Experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies
• Familiarity with database management systems (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server) and version control tools like Git
• Ability to optimize applications for speed, scalability, and reliability
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field

Desirable:

• Certifications in relevant technologies are a bonus
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines is a plus
