Job summary

Arcus FM is seeking a Software Development Engineer to design, develop, and maintain software applications that drive success for our business and clients.

Although this role allows for primarily remote working, there is a requirement to attend the Redditch office at least once a month. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, write and test code in JavaScript, React, NodeJS, Python, SQL, and CSS, and contribute to SDLC and Agile processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional experience in software development engineering.
• Proficiency in JavaScript (JS), React, NodeJS (ExpressJS), Python, SQL and CSS.
• Solid understanding of front-end and back-end development.
• Experience with SDLC and agile methodologies.
• Familiarity with MySQL and SQL Server; Git version control.

About the Job

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including designers, product managers, and fellow developers to deliver scalable, high-quality software solutions
• Write, test, and deploy clean, efficient, and maintainable code across a range of applications
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems to improve performance and security
• Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation
• Drive innovation by proposing and implementing new technologies to enhance development processes and product performance
• Work closely with stakeholders to understand and translate technical and business requirements into actionable solutions

To be successful you will have:

Essential:

• Professional experience in software development engineering
• Strong problem-solving skills and an innovative mindset
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages and frameworks, including JavaScript (JS), React, NodeJS (ExpressJS), Python, SQL, and CSS
• Solid understanding of front-end and back-end development
• Experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies
• Familiarity with database management systems (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server) and version control tools like Git
• Ability to optimize applications for speed, scalability, and reliability
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field

Desirable:

• Certifications in relevant technologies are a bonus
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines is a plus
