Job summary

Experis is partnering with a leading Scottish organisation to hire a hands-on Software Development Coach. You will influence engineering practices across product and enablement teams, delivering secure, resilient digital services.

You’ll collaborate with teams to elevate capability, adoption of platforms and responsible AI-enabled development, with Edinburgh/Glasgow onsite part of each week in a hybrid UK role.

Qualifications

• Hands-on software engineering leadership.
• Experience with AWS, CI/CD, APIs and containers.
• Cloud-native engineering, automated testing and IaC.
• Dev platforms, ML/AI automation or agentic workflows.
• Coaching agile teams and influencing stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Partner with teams to raise engineering capability and delivery performance.
• Improve developer experience with pragmatic standards and self-service tooling.
• Promote responsible AI-assisted development and AI tooling usage.
• Reduce technical debt, security risks and resilience gaps.

Are you an experienced software engineering leader who enjoys helping teams improve how they build and deliver technology?

Experis is supporting a leading Scottish organisation in the search for a hands-on Software Development Coach. This is an opportunity to influence engineering practices across multiple product and enablement teams while helping to deliver secure, resilient and maintainable digital services.

What you’ll be doing:

• Partnering with teams to elevate engineering capability, delivery performance and technical decision-making
• Enhancing developer experience through pragmatic standards, automation, self-service tooling and platform adoption
• Championing responsible AI-assisted development, including the practical use of tools such as Claude
• Reducing technical debt, security, resilience and knowledge-concentration risks
• Building strong engineering communities through coaching, workshops and knowledge sharing

We’re looking for experience across:

• Hands-on software engineering and technical leadership
• AWS, CI/CD, APIs, containers and modern programming languages
• Cloud-native engineering, automated testing, observability and infrastructure as code
• Developer platforms, MLOps, AI automation or agentic workflows
• Coaching agile teams and influencing technical and non-technical stakeholders

The role offers hybrid working within the UK, with onsite collaboration in Edinburgh or Glasgow for part of each week.
