Job summary

ASA Recruitment’s client in Glasgow is seeking a Software Developer in Test for an initial 6-month contract, hybrid working. The role focuses on building automated tests for in-house applications and ensuring reliable releases.

The rate is up to £500 per day outside IR35, dependent on experience. You will work within a small team, collaborating across infrastructure, delivery, and service management to translate complex concepts for stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience with test automation in CI/CD pipelines, esp. GitHub Actions.
• Proficiency in Playwright and/or Selenium/WebDriver.
• Strong Java and JavaScript knowledge.
• Familiarity with Linux environments and AWS services.
• MySQL scripting experience (2+ years within last 5 years).

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans for in-house applications.
• Coordinate and manage test schedules with the team.
• Build and maintain testing artefacts and automation where possible.
• Identify operational improvements to ensure a stable service.
• Mitigate project risks and support external testing partners.
• Create test frameworks and automation tests for releases.

ASA Recruitment’s client, a Public Sector organisation in Glasgow (hybrid working), are currently looking to recruit a Software Developer in Test, for an initial 6 month contract (with potential extensions) on a rate of up to £500/day outside of IR35 (based on experience).

Responsibilities:

• Work as part of a small team of Software Developer in Test specialists ensuring test plans are understood, integrated, delivered and automated where possible
• Coordinate and manage test schedules
• Build and maintain testing artefacts, looking ahead for future opportunities or blockers, and ensuring decisions by teams align with the strategy
• Identify operational improvements and work to ensure a stable service that can be enhanced
• Anticipate and mitigate against project challenges or risks
• Work with and support third parties in providing testing services
• Create test frameworks and automation tests for in house applications and help in assuring releases for the team.

Experience:

• Best Practice test approaches
• Test Automation in CI/CD pipelines (specifically, GitHub Actions)
• Playwright and/or Selenium/WebDriver test automation (ideally some exposure to Playwright is desired)
• Java and JavaScript
• BDD test tooling (Gherkin/Cucumber)
• Proficient around Linux based environments
• AWS environment experience
• Mariadb/Oracle/Mysql/AWS Aurora experience (2 or more)
• 2+ years (within the past 5 years) of MySQL scripting
• Ability to translate technical concepts between infrastructure, delivery management and service management so they are understood by all
• Able to speak on behalf of technical and service management teams and facilitate the relationships with indirect stakeholders
