Job summary

Ashurst Perkins Coie is seeking a Senior Technical Test Engineer to work within an IT product team or on business change projects in our Glasgow office with hybrid working. You will ensure the quality of products, deliver testing artifacts, coordinate testers, and design testing strategies for complex distributed applications, using both manual and automated approaches.

The role requires ISTQB/TOSCA, Agile and Waterfall experience, and proficiency with Zephyr, JIRA, Selenium, Playwright, Jenkins

Qualifications

• ISTQB accreditation and/or similar certifications.
• TOSCA certification.
• Strong manual testing expertise.
• Experience in cross‑functional product teams.
• Good knowledge of Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
• Experience with test management and defect tracking (Zephyr, JIRA).
• Experience leading automation testing portfolios.
• Automation of complex, multi‑platform distributed apps.
• Knowledge of automation/CICD tools (Selenium, Tosca, Playwright, Jenkins, GitHub, Maven).
• Knowledge of AI & Cloud technologies (Azure, AWS).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with testers, developers and product managers within a Product Team or supporting business and IT change projects.
• Deliver testing deliverables on change projects using testing methods and practices.
• Coordinate testing activities and mentor junior testers.
• Adhere to established testing processes across Waterfall phases.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives).
• Analyze testing inputs (business and technical requirements).
• Prepare detailed test conditions and test scripts.
• Execute test scripts and record results accurately.

The Opportunity

Working as a Senior Technical Test Engineer primarily within an IT product team or on business change projects as part of a team, to ensure the quality and functionality of products, support change projects with delivery of testing deliverables and co‑ordinating testers and being able to purposely design appropriate testing strategies and frameworks.

Key responsibilities of the role include

• Work with an established team of Testers, Developers and Product Managers within a Product Team or supporting business and IT change projects.
• Deliver testing deliverables on change projects using testing methods and practices.
• Co‑ordinate testing activities and less experienced testers, whilst being able to manage up.
• Adhere to established testing processes throughout the various phases of a Waterfall project.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily standups and retrospectives.
• Analyse testing inputs, such as business and technical requirements.
• Prepare detailed test conditions and test scripts.
• Execute test scripts, accurately recording all test results.

This is a full-time, permanent role based in our Glasgow office with hybrid working.

About you

The successful candidate will have:

• Certifications such as ISTQB accreditation, Agile, DevOps etc.
• TOSCA Certifications
• Strong manual testing skills and experience
• Ability to work within cross‑functional product teams
• Solid understanding and experience with both Agile and Waterfall project methodologies
• Experience with test management and defect tracking tools (Zephyr, JIRA)
• Understanding of risk‑based testing practices to focus efforts on critical areas
• Proven experience in managing automation for testing functions/portfolio.
• Expertise in automating complex, multi‑platform distributed applications.
• Excellent knowledge of market standard automation & CICD tools ( Selenium, Tosca, Playwright, Jenkins, GitHub , Maven etc.)
• Very good knowledge of AI & Cloud based technologies (Azure, AWS , GitHub Co-Pilot etc.) to implement as needed
