Job summary

Henderson Scott is seeking an experienced Senior Automation Tester in Scotland to lead automated test design and development for a government client. The role focuses on UI, API, and integration testing with strong emphasis on robust automation frameworks.

The candidate will work within an Agile/Scrum team, collaborate with developers to resolve defects, and contribute to test documentation and quality metrics. SC clearance is preferred for this 12-month contract.

Qualifications

• Experience with automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress or Appium.
• Strong skills in one or more of: Java, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript or Python.
• Experience with API testing tools such as Postman, RestAssured or Karate.
• Familiarity with BDD/TDD and tools such as Cucumber or SpecFlow.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools like Azure DevOps, Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
• Knowledge of Git and common branching strategies.
• Experience with cloud environments (Azure, AWS or GCP) and containerised systems (Docker or Kubernetes) is desirable.
• Good understanding of Atlassian Datacentre tooling.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with high attention to detail and quality.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work within Agile/Scrum teams.

Due to the urgency and nature of the role, successful candidates will be British Nationals and ideally hold active SC clearance.
