Job summary

The Apprenticeship Guide is offering a Software Developer Apprentice role in Sevenoaks (Kent). This higher apprenticeship (Level 4) combines paid work with formal training, a 40-hour week, and hybrid in-office and remote working as part of your development journey.

You will develop and maintain customer-facing web apps, using HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js and SQL, design relational databases (PostgreSQL), translate requirements into technical solutions, test and deploy code, and

Qualifications

  • Completed Level 3 Software Development Apprenticeship with QA or equivalent.
  • A-level in STEM with aptitude test or BTEC Diploma in IT with aptitude test.
  • 2 years experience in a relevant role with aptitude test.
  • International qualifications must be comparable to UK standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and improve customer-facing web applications.
  • Build front-end solutions using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and TypeScript.
  • Develop back-end functionality using Node.js, PHP and SQL.
  • Design and maintain relational databases, including PostgreSQL.

  • Test, debug, deploy and enhance software applications.
  • Use Git and source control to manage code changes.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation.
  • Communicate with colleagues and customers to gather requirements and resolve issues.
  • Follow security, data protection and software development best practices.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain and improve customer-facing web applications

Entry Requirements
  • The learner must have completed a Level 3 Software Development Apprenticeship with QA or have an equivalent qualification with another training provider
  • OR an A-level in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) subject and a successful completion of our aptitude test
  • OR a BTEC Diploma in IT and a successful completion of our aptitude test
  • OR 2 years' experience in a relevant role and successful completion of our aptitude test

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
