Job Title: Sociology Teacher
Location: Horncastle
Salary Range: £31,650 - £49,084 per annum (Depending on Experience)
Start Time: After Easter 2025
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

Are you a passionate and insightful Sociology specialist eager to help young people make sense of the world around them?

GSL Education would love to introduce you to a forward-thinking academy in Horncastle seeking an ambitious Sociology Teacher to join them immediately after Easter.

About the Role:

As a Sociology Teacher, you will join a supportive and dynamic teaching team, with access to continuous professional development and resources that foster a creative and stimulating learning environment. The humanities faculty is well-resourced, open to innovation and committed to outstanding outcomes.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, data‑rich lessons that develop pupils’ analytical and evaluative skills.
  • Use a variety of pedagogical approaches – flipped learning, case‑study analysis, team debate – to maximise engagement.
  • Track progress against departmental targets, implementing interventions where necessary.
  • Contribute to a vibrant enrichment offer (e.g. Sociology in Film club, trips to courts / universities, speaker events).
  • Uphold high expectations for behaviour, scholarship and mutual respect.
  • Liaise with parents, pastoral staff and senior leaders to support every learner.

Job Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised overseas teaching qualification.
  • A degree in Sociology or a closely related social‑science discipline.
  • A proven track record of teaching Sociology at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 level, with strong subject knowledge and the ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Up‑to‑date knowledge of AQA or OCR Sociology specifications and current sociological research.
  • Excellent communication skills and a commitment to inclusive practice.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
