Job summary

Northumberland County Council is seeking a Social Worker to support Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children and Young People. You will deliver care planning, help access foster care and accommodation, and promote education, employment and training while navigating asylum procedures.

This permanent role requires a Social Work degree, registration with Social Work England, ASYE completion, and a valid UK driving licence with access to a car. The council offers flexible working and strong benefits.

• Must have UK Skills for Care ASYE programme.
• Valid UK driving licence and access to a car for work purposes.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality care planning and support to unaccompanied asylum seeking children and young people up to age 18.
• Help young people access suitable foster care homes and accommodation.
• Promote engagement in education, employment and training opportunities.
• Navigate the asylum and immigration process with young people and advocate on their behalf.
• Lead on age assessments where required and build multi-agency partnerships.
