Job summary

Doncaster Council is seeking a qualified social worker to join the Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) & Transitions team. You will work with vulnerable young people who arrived in the UK without adult care, helping them access safe accommodation, navigate asylum processes, and move toward independent living.

This role offers a competitive pay rate of £35 per hour with a flexible hybrid working pattern and strong supervision.

Qualifications

• Degree in Social Work (BA/MA/DipSW or equivalent) is required.
• Active registration with Social Work England.
• Minimum of 2 years post-qualifying experience in Children's Services.
• Knowledge of the Children Act 1989/2004 and asylum/immigration rules.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business travel.

Responsibilities

• Carry out comprehensive assessments including age and pathway planning for care leavers.
• Provide child-centred casework management for unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.
• Work with Home Office, immigration solicitors, health and education providers.
• Support asylum-seeking young people through legal and emotional needs.
• Conduct statutory visits and pathway plan reviews for care leavers.
• Safeguard and advocate for the best interests of vulnerable young people.
