Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking a Social Worker for the Cognitive and Physical Disability (C&PD) team, located at County Hall, Leicestershire, with optional hybrid working where applicable.

The post carries salary bands from £33,129–£35,439 for Newly Qualified, £36,621–£40,458 for Level 2, and £41,259–£44,109 for Level 3 (plus £3,300 market premia for Level 3). The contract is secondment or fixed term until February 2027, closing 27 October 2026.

Qualifications

• Qualified social worker registered with Social Work England.
• Knowledge of Care Act, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act.
• Experience in assessment, safeguarding, court work, multi‑agency/multi‑disciplinary working; hospital discharge experience.
• Desirable: experience with learning disability and autism.
• Strong communication, diplomacy, assertiveness, conflict management and time management; driving licence or access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Care Act assessments and safeguarding.
• Mental Capacity Assessments and Best Interests decisions.
• Court work and multi‑agency collaboration, including hospital discharge when needed.
