Job description

The Learning Disability Service in Middlesbrough is delighted to have secured funding for a qualified social work post within our team.

To help us recruit social workers who are committed to working in Middlesbrough we are currently offering a 10% supplement to social work salaries. This additional 10% will be reviewed at the end of March 2026.

We welcome applications from experienced or newly qualified (ASYE) social workers and individuals due to qualify as social workers this academic year. Applicants need to be passionate about delivering the very best outcomes for people with learning disabilities, often with additional needs and will want to make a difference. We need someone who is enthusiastic, creative and enjoys working as part of an experienced, supportive, and friendly team who want to improve the lives of young people and adults with learning disabilities from their transition to adulthood at 17 years old through to their later years. You will complete assessments, care manage a caseload and explore a wide variety of opportunities for each individual and will be rewarded by developing positive lasting relationships with people with learning disabilities and their families, an extensive knowledge of resources available in Middlesbrough and a network of professionals from all agencies.

As a member of the Learning Disability and Transitions Service, where we have an open-door policy, you can expect to receive regular formal, informal and peer supervision and the opportunity to make a difference.

You will need to hold a Social Worker qualification and be registered with Social Work England.
