Job summary

The University of Kent is seeking a Social Media and Content Officer to shape the University’s social media presence. You will manage core feeds, spot opportunities, and work with student creators to keep channels engaging and distinctive.

You will collaborate with colleagues across departments to develop impactful social storytelling, responding to trends and delivering a Kent-branded voice across platforms.

Qualifications

  • First degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant area, or experience working in a similar role.
  • Substantial experience of using social media to achieve strategic objectives across a range of platforms.
  • Knowledge of social media best practice, developing trends and how to spot a social ‘story’.
  • Excellent content production skills, including photography, video, copywriting and basic design.
  • Ability to work flexibly and creatively, balancing campaigns and reactive opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Producing proactive and reactive content, including copy, photography, video, vox pop interviews and social media graphics.
  • Identifying story opportunities across the University and creating social-specific angles on Kent news and activity.
  • Overseeing our core social media feeds, monitoring opportunities and issues and engaging with followers.
  • Advising and supporting colleagues, schools and departments to develop their social media presence.
