Job summary

North Yorkshire Council is seeking a Maintenance Operative to join the Housing Standards Team in Harrogate to carry out essential repairs and maintenance across the county.

You will perform repairs to social housing stock in tenanted properties, using mobile technology to receive work instructions and ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Building Regulations. This is a customer-facing role delivering a safe, well-maintained living environment.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualifications and proven experience in a specialist trade relating to housing operations
• Confident working in residential properties with standard maintenance tools and machinery
• Clear, polite, and professional communication with residents and team members at all levels
• Good understanding of current Health & Safety and Building Regulations
• Good working knowledge of other trades linked to your primary role
• Ability to participate in an out-of-hours emergency standby rota

Responsibilities

• Carry out housing repairs relevant to your trade
• Record and monitor supplied equipment as necessary
• Work to expected Health & Safety standards and safe systems of work
• Undertake professional, mandatory and skills-based training
• Carry out maintenance and repair work, and repairs in associated trades
