Job summary

North Yorkshire Council is seeking Maintenance Operatives to join our Housing Standards Team. The role involves delivering essential maintenance and repair services across the county to keep homes safe and comfortable, with a vehicle provided for day-to-day work in tenanted properties.

You will work to Decent Homes standards, comply with current regulatory standards, and participate in mandatory training. This is a mobile role with emphasis on safety, customer service, and efficient, autonomous

Qualifications

• Relevant qualifications and proven experience in a specialist trade relating to housing operations.
• Confident working in residential properties with standard maintenance tools and machinery.
• Clear, polite, and professional communication with residents and team members at all levels.
• Good understanding of current Health & Safety and Building Regulations.
• Good working knowledge of other trades linked to your primary role.
• Ability to participate in an out-of-hours emergency standby rota.

Responsibilities

• Carry out housing repairs relevant to your trade
• Record and monitor supplied equipment as necessary
• Work to expected Health & Safety standards and safe systems of work
• Undertake professional, mandatory and skills-based training
• Carry out maintenance and repair work, and repairs in associated trades
