About This Opportunity

At Lloyds Banking Group, we're driven by a clear purpose: to help Britain prosper. Our Commercial Banking division supports a diverse range of business clients, from small enterprises to multinational corporations. We're looking for a passionate and dedicated SME Relationship Manager to join our high-performing team in North East and North Yorkshire. You'll be part of a dynamic group that supports trading clients with tailored financial solutions, including lending, deposits, and a variety of other services. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop key business opportunities and represent Lloyds Banking Group within the professional community.

As an SME Relationship Manager, you'll play a crucial role in growing our portfolio by bringing more of the Bank's propositions to existing clients and building out our franchise. You'll be an ambassador for change, adopting new tools to enhance the client and colleague experience, and supporting your wider team and region to achieve their objectives. If you're ready to make a difference and help drive UK growth, we want to hear from you!

Key Accountabilities:
  • Handle and develop high-profile client relationships, putting the client at the heart of what you do, adding customer value at every interaction, and becoming a trusted advisor.

  • Identify and evaluate expertise-led solutions against a range of criteria to find the ones that best meet business needs.

  • Uncover emerging issues and/or needs, identifying potential causes, related issues, barriers, and key partners to find the best way forward.

  • Establish relationships with Group Partner companies, bringing the whole Bank to the client and delivering products to meet their needs.

  • Manage the risk side of your client portfolio, including supporting clients with developing ESG strategies and their journey to Net Zero.

  • Support the development of others in the team while also investing in opportunities for your own personal development.

About Us:

Join us and as well as making a difference to customers, you’ll enjoy a fulfilling career where you’re free to be yourself. Great colleagues, transforming workspaces, hybrid working and a wide variety of career opportunities – you’ll find them all here.

What You'll Need:
  • Strong communication skills with experience in building, crafting, and handling relationships with clients and influential external partners.

  • Validated credit experience, skilled at evaluating propositions and making confident and effective commercial recommendations to the Credit team.

  • Strong financial and numerical skills.

  • Understanding and appreciation of the different types of risk in a lending environment and how to minimise such risk.

  • A skilled teammate and a proven self-starter with a drive and passion to succeed individually and as part of the wider team.

  • Detailed understanding of legal documentation, with the ability to effectively negotiate legal and commercial terms.

About Working For Us

Our focus is to ensure we’re inclusive every day, building an organisation that reflects modern society and celebrates diversity in all its forms. We’re committed to creating a consciously inclusive workplace where our colleagues can be themselves, thrive and perform at their best.

As an inclusive employer, we offer Workplace Adjustments for colleagues with a disability (which may include long-term health and neurodivergent conditions) where it is reasonable to do so. This could include flexibility with regards to office attendance, location, and working pattern.

We’re proud to be a Disability Confident Leader. If you have a disability, you can also apply via our Disability Confident Scheme (DCS). Through the DCS, we guarantee to interview a fair and proportionate number of applicants with a disability, whose application meets the minimum criteria for the advertised job role.

We also provide reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process to reduce or remove barriers for applicants with a disability, long-term health condition or neurodivergent condition. If you’d like an adjustment to the recruitment process just let us know!

We also offer a wide-ranging benefits package, which includes:
  • A generous pension contribution of up to 15%

  • An annual performance-related bonus

  • Share schemes including free shares

  • Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping

  • 30 days’ holiday, with bank holidays on top
