Job summary

Hydrosave (UK) Ltd is seeking a Smart Water Services Field Technician (FTC) in Reading. The role is field‑based, outdoors, and involves installing data logging devices to support leakage analysis, network modelling and water usage tracking. You will work from a home base, travel to sites, and perform vehicle checks.

Full training, a company vehicle, a fuel card, tools and PPE are provided. A strong focus on Health & Safety, independence, and teamwork is essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • Full, valid UK driving licence.
  • Consent to and pass a CRB check.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good planning and organisational ability.
  • Decisive and confident decision‑making skills.
  • Strong awareness of Health, Safety & Wellbeing.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions.
  • Initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain water sensors used to record acoustics, pressure and flow.
  • Use of specialist field equipment.
  • Accurately complete timesheets, survey forms, and leakage reports.
  • Take full responsibility for Health & Safety compliance.
  • Work closely with Team Leaders and fellow technicians.
  • Report accidents, incidents, and near misses within required timeframes.
  • Adhere to company vehicle safety processes and complete daily vehicle checks.
  • Demonstrate company values and professional behaviours at all times.

The business is dedicated to finding new ways to optimise the efficient use, maintenance and management of water networks.

Hydrosave works as trusted partner to UK water utilities, consultants, contractors and commercial water customers. Focusing purely on underground infrastructure, innovation and specialist expertise is the focus: our people are water industry experts with unparalleled experience and in-depth knowledge of their technical disciplines.

A fantastic new opportunity has arisen to join the Smart Water Services division and support the installation of network sensors. This is a field-based role and we are seeking individuals who can work outdoors, develop technical skills, and play a key part in maintaining reliable and sustainable water services. This role is ideal for someone who is seeking to start a career in the water industry and learn new skills.

Full training will be provided, along with company vehicle, fuel card, tools and PPE.

The Role

As a Field Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the water network operations by installing data logging devices. The devices are used to record water network performance, with the data collected supporting leakage, network modelling, pressure management and water usage.

This field-based position requires working independently, managing your time effectively, and ensuring work is completed to high standards.

What you’ll need

Notes on the role
  • You will work from your home location each day and be prepared to carry out some driving to/from site in your own time.
  • Drug and alcohol testing will be performed throughout the contract
