Job summary

Secureshield, part of the Ranger Group, is hiring a Small Works Engineer to deliver TECS, fire and security projects with autonomy and high-quality outcomes.

You will work on systems including TECS, fire alarms, intruder alarms, CCTV and access control, ensuring compliance with BS5839, BS5266 and EN50131 while maintaining safety standards. Opportunities for development and progression are strong within the expanding group.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in fire and security engineering, especially small works.
• Strong technical knowledge across TECS, fire alarms, intruder alarms, CCTV, and access control.
• Solid understanding of BS5839, BS5266, EN50131, and related standards.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.
• IT literacy including Microsoft Office and project management tools.
• Ability to produce accurate quotes and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Delivering small works projects — from minor installs and upgrades to remedial works.
• Ensuring all work meets British Standards, industry regulations, and company procedures.
• Maintaining excellent health & safety practices across all tasks.
• Commissioning systems, handing them over, and providing customer training.
• Carrying out acceptance testing and quality assurance checks.
• Offering professional, customer-facing support when required.
