Job summary

Secureshield Ltd in the Ranger Group is looking for a motivated Small Works Engineer to join our growing TECS, fire and security team. You will deliver small works projects, including minor installs and upgrades, across fire, security and life safety systems.

The role emphasizes safety, adherence to standards, customer training, and professional, client-facing support. We offer flexible hours, a company vehicle, and opportunities for training and progression within a supportive group.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in fire and security engineering, especially small works.
• Strong technical knowledge across TECS, fire alarms, intruder alarms, CCTV, and access control (multi-manufacturer).
• Solid understanding of BS5839, BS5266, EN50131, and related standards.
• Great organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects confidently.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.
• IT literacy, including Microsoft Office and project management tools.
• Ability to produce accurate quotes and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Delivering small works projects – from minor installs and upgrades to remedial works.
• Ensuring all work meets British Standards, industry regulations, and company procedures.
• Maintaining excellent health & safety practices across all tasks.
• Commissioning systems, handing them over, and providing customer training.
• Carrying out acceptance testing and quality assurance checks.
• Offering professional, customer-facing support when required.
