Job summary

Government Recruitment Service is seeking a Small Craft Surveyor in South Shields to survey and inspect small and non-convention vessels, issuing certification and advising owners. Qualifications

• Survey and inspect small and non-convention vessels to ensure compliance with UK and international safety, security and environmental standards.
• Issue certification and provide expert technical advice to vessel owners and industry colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Train or mentor Marine Surveyor colleagues on MCA S&I activities to ensure consistency with MCA standards.
• Carry out surveys and lead as lead surveyor in most cases, including issuing certification and advising the public and colleagues.
• Carry out inspections of small/non-convention vessels and port installations to ensure compliance with conventions and UK requirements.
• Provide industry and public guidance according to MCA policies and act as a point of contact for designated companies or vessel owners.
