Job summary

Government Recruitment Service is recruiting a Small Craft Surveyor - Nautical in Lerwick. You will survey and inspect small and non-convention vessels to ensure compliance with UK and international safety standards and issue required certifications.

The role involves advising owners and industry colleagues, maintaining high-quality survey services, and contributing to a professional, customer-focused MCA delivery team.

Qualifications

• Experience surveying small/non-convention vessels.
• Knowledge of UK and international maritime safety standards.
• Ability to issue certifications and advise stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Train or mentor Marine Surveyor colleagues in MCA Survey & Inspection activities.
• Carry out surveys leading to statutory certificates for small vessels and act as lead surveyor where appropriate.
• Conduct inspections of small vessels and port installations to ensure compliance with conventions and regulations.
• Provide technical advice to vessel owners and industry colleagues and support a high-quality survey service.
