South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture is seeking a motivated Swimming Assistant for Strathaven Leisure Centre. The role supports Swim Officers and helps deliver the swimming lesson programme across multiple age groups.

The post is fixed term until 31 March 2027, with varied hours totaling 7 per week and an hourly rate of £17.12–£17.33. Applicants should have SSTQ or UKCC Level 2 teaching aquatics or be working toward one of these awards.

South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Swimming Assistant to join our team at Strathaven Leisure Centre.

South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture have an award winning swimming development programme which delivers high quality swimming lessons in our nine pools. Due to the continued expansion of our programme, which currently delivers lessons to around 10,000 people a week, we are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated Swimming Assistant who loves teaching swimming to a variety of abilities and age groups and have the skills to help Swim Teachers develop.

The successful candidate will be expected to support the role of the Swim Officer and deputise when appropriate and play an integral role in teaching and administering the swimming lesson programme. The hours will be flexible to suit the needs of what is a varied and extensive programme.

Applicants must hold the SSTQ or the UKCC Level 2 Teaching Aquatics certificate. NPLQ or Pool Rescue Award is desirable but candidates will be able to work towards one of these awards.
