Job summary

The University of Manchester invites applications for an experienced postdoctoral research associate to lead an ongoing clinical study exploring the immunological basis of sleep disorders. This role focuses on translational research while maintaining strong basic neuroimmunology work in the Quintana Lab.

Based within the Lydia Becker Institute of Immunology and Inflammation and the Geoffrey Jefferson Centre for Brain Research, the postholder will collaborate with NHS partners and industrial

Qualifications

• Hold a PhD in immunology (or related fields)
• Extensive and demonstrable experience in B cell biology through first-author publications
• Extensive and demonstrable industrial experience in Biosciences and/or industrial R&D
• Extensive and up-to-date theoretical and practical knowledge in immunoparasitology
• Excellent technical skills in immunoparasitology and in vivo models of infection
• Proven ability to lead project and teams as demonstrated by publications as first-author and/or demonstrable deliverables within an industry setting

Responsibilities

• To conduct original research exploring the immunological basis of sleep disorders
• To identify and develop suitable techniques, and apparatus, for the collection and analysis of data
• To draft publications and prepare them for submission to refereed journals
• To submit publications to refereed journals
• To lead on and contribute to writing bids for research grants
