Job summary

The University of Manchester invites applications for an experienced/senior postdoctoral researcher in neuroscience to explore how the immune system shapes hypothalamic circuits involved in sleep-wake cycle regulations during development and in response to inflammation.

The post holder will join the Quintana Lab, within the Lydia Becker Institute of Immunology and Inflammation and the Geoffrey Jefferson Centre for Brain Research, contributing to an innovative research programme combining

Qualifications

• Hold a PhD in neuroscience, behavioural sciences, sleep, or related disciplines.
• Demonstrable high-impact scientific outputs as first and/or corresponding author.
• Extensive knowledge in neuroscience, electrophysiology, sleep, and related skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct original research on immunological basis of hypothalamic maturation.
• Perform surgeries and behavioural studies in mice.
• Develop techniques and apparatus for data collection and analysis.
• Draft publications and prepare manuscripts for refereed journals.
• Lead on and contribute to writing bids for research grants.
