Job summary

Mencap is seeking a Skills Coach to support learners with SEND in the Birmingham Service. The role involves 1-1 job coaching, workplace skills development, and embedding English and Maths in real settings. It is a permanent, full-time position (37.5 hours per week) with opportunities to impact lives and progression.

You will work across employability programs, including Supported Internships, and travel within the wider Birmingham area. A proactive, compassionate approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience supporting individuals to achieve personal goals.
• Experience delivering outcomes against targets in an education/work support setting.
• Knowledge of safe practices when supporting learners in varied settings.
• Understanding of Educational and SEN sectors and related requirements.
• Candidates should have GCSE English & Maths or equivalent qualifications.
• Competent ICT skills and ability to use common software tools.
• Strong communication and meticulous record-keeping abilities.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle for travel.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1-1 job coaching and workplace support to learners.
• Help learners develop employability skills and confidence.
• Embed English and Maths learning within workplace activities.
• Support learning during classroom sessions to reinforce skills.
• Drive learner progression and achieve defined outcomes.
