Job summary

Hampshire County Council is seeking a Skills Coach to support young people aged 16 to 25 with SEND, helping them develop the skills, confidence and independence needed to progress into learning and employment through our Supported Internship programme.

The role is based primarily across Basingstoke and Winchester, working with learners, tutors, employers, families and carers to build positive relationships and progress toward individual goals.

Qualifications

  • Excellent knowledge of Supported Internships, Traineeships and other employment-focused learning programmes.
  • Experience of supporting vulnerable learners including people with Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) within an education, health, or social care setting.
  • Strong administrative skills with the ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload effectively.
  • A learner-centred approach with high expectations and a belief in every learner’s potential.

Responsibilities

The Role:

As a Skills Coach, you'll support young people aged 16 to 25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to develop the skills, confidence, and independence needed to succeed in learning and employment. Working as part of our Young People's Learning team, you'll deliver personalised support through our Supported Internship programme, helping learners make a successful transition into adult life. Based primarily across Basingstoke and Winchester, you'll work closely with learners, tutors, employers, families, and carers to build positive relationships, support progress towards individual goals, and overcome barriers to learning and employment. You'll provide one-to-one and small group support, contribute to Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), and help learners gain valuable workplace experience, acting as a key link between learners, employers, and colleagues to ensure successful outcomes.

Travel Requirements:

You will be required to travel to various locations within Hampshire, and it is essential that you have a current drivers’ licence and access to a reliable vehicle on a regular basis.
