Job summary

Activate Learning Group is seeking a dedicated Student Employment Support Worker (Job Coach) to assist learners at Guildford College. You will support young people with SEND on Employability Programmes, helping them gain employability skills through external placements.

Reporting to the Lead Job Coach, you will monitor progress, assess performance, and guide learners to achieve their individual goals within a supportive, collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience working with young people with SEND in educational or training settings.
• Ability to break down tasks and provide clear, structured instructions to support learner understanding.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive, collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored support to students with SEND enrolled in Employability Programmes within the LLDD department.
• Help students develop key employability skills through external work placements.
• Monitor student progress, assess performance and guide learners to achieve individual goals and learning outcomes.
• Flexibly support across multiple Learning Companies based on organisational need.

About the role: Student Employment Support Worker (Job Coach)

We are seeking an enthusiastic Student Employment Support Worker (Job Coach) to join our supportive team at Guildford College. In this role, you will provide tailored support to young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) enrolled in our Employability Programmes, within the Learners with Learning Difficulties or Disabilities (LLDD) department.

As a Job Coach, you’ll play a vital role in helping students of all abilities develop key employability skills through active participation in external work placements. Working closely with the Lead Job Coach, you’ll ensure the smooth daily operation of these work-based learning environments. Flexibility is key, as you may be required to support across multiple Learning Companies based on need.

In addition to delivering practical coaching, you will monitor student progress, assess performance, and guide learners in achieving their individual goals and learning outcomes.

This is a fixed-term, full-time role working 37 hours per week during term-time based at our Guildford College campus. The contract ends in July 2027.

What do you need to be a successful Student Employment Support Worker (Job Coach) at Activate Learning?

To thrive in this role, you will have:

• Extensive experience working with young people with SEND in educational or training settings.
• The ability to break down tasks and provide clear, structured instructions to support learner understanding.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive, collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, and external partners.
• Experience in a Further Education (FE) environment is desirable, though not essential.
