Job summary

Progress Rail, a Caterpillar Company, is recruiting for a Welder / Plater on a 12 Month FTC basis in Sheffield (S9 1TP). The role offers a 4‑day week, a salary of £32,304 per annum, and a shift pattern alternating mornings and afternoons.

You will perform manual welding, plate fixtures, and ensure welds meet design tolerances while maintaining a safe, compliant work environment and contributing to tooling and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing environments, preferably heavy industry.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of MMA and MAGS welding processes.
• Experience with plating processes is a plus.
• Awareness of safety legislation and quality procedures (ISO 9001).

Responsibilities

• Perform manual welding to required standards.
• Weld production items to design tolerances.
• Mark out, fabricate and weld components for weldments.
• Plate fixtures and assist with tooling maintenance.
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment per QA system.
• Follow company procedures on quality, safety and environment.
