Job summary

Progress Rail Services Corporation in Sheffield is seeking skilled Welders/Platers for a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role involves manual welding of production items and plating fixtures to required tolerances, with a focus on quality and safety.

You will operate within a 4-day week and a split shift pattern, contributing to production schedules while maintaining tooling and processes. A commitment to safety and quality is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing, preferably medium-to-heavy environment.
• Experience in project/jobbing with welding to production schedules.
• Awareness of safety legislation and ISO 9001 quality procedures.
• Qualifications in MMA welding processes.
• Qualified in plating processes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Carry out all required manual-welding processes to the required standard.
• Weld production items to the required design and tolerances.
• Mark out, manufacture and weld together components for weldments as required for tooling and maintenance purposes.
• Plating fixtures.
• Maintain a safe and tidy working environment in accordance with company and legislative requirements
• Operate in accordance with the Company Quality Assurance System and help to improve/develop processes
• Work within Company procedures as required including quality, safety and environmental management processes
