Job summary

Progress Rail, a Caterpillar company, is recruiting skilled Welders and Platers to join our Sheffield facility. You will perform manual welding of production items, fabricate plated components, and operate to engineering drawings, with a 4-day week, shift pattern mornings/afternoons on alternating weeks.

Qualifications

• Manufacturing industry experience, preferably medium to heavy environment.
• Experience in manual welding to production schedules.
• Knowledge of safety legislation and ISO 9001 quality procedures.
• Qualifications in MMA and MAGS welding processes.
• Competent in plating processes.
• Ability to read and work from engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Carry out all required manual-welding processes to the required standard.
• Weld production items to the required design and tolerances.
• Mark out, manufacture and weld together components for weldments as required for tooling and maintenance purposes.
• Plating fixtures.
• Maintain a safe and tidy working environment in accordance with company and legislative requirements
• Operate in accordance with the Company Quality Assurance System and help to improve/develop processes
• Work within Company procedures as required including quality, safety and environmental management processes
