Job summary

The Compleat Food Group in Market Drayton is seeking a Skilled Production Operative to operate machinery and support production lines in a fast-paced, bakery environment. The role is on a 5am–5pm or 06:00–18:00, 4on 4off shift pattern, at Palethorpes Bakery, TF9 3AL, with a pay rate of £14.11 per hour plus overtime.

You will be responsible for pre-start checks, safe operation, quality assurance, and adherence to health & safety, GMP and food safety standards, while working as part of a

Qualifications

• Good written and spoken English to communicate with team members and supervisors.
• Fast-paced factory environment experience, ideally within the food industry.
• Able to lift up to 25 kg safely.
• Experience with production line equipment is advantageous.
• Knowledge of CCPs and food safety regulations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out pre-start checks on machinery and report issues.
• Operate production line equipment safely and efficiently.
• Ensure products meet customer specifications and quality standards.
• Take corrective action or escalate to the Group Leader.
• Maintain Clean As You Go (CAYG) and GMP practices.

• Support engineers by reporting faults and tracking machine downtime.
• Develop understanding of multiple production equipment.
• Follow Health & Safety rules and PPE usage.
• Report hazards, incidents, or near misses.
• Ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your team.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and quality procedures.
• Maintain personal hygiene standards.
• Promote Clean As You Go practices.
• Ensure work meets regulatory and customer requirements.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Carry out pre-start checks on machinery and report any issues immediately
• Operate production line equipment safely and efficiently
• Ensure products meet customer specifications and quality standards
• Take corrective action where needed or elevate issues to the Group Leader
• Maintain high standards of Clean As You Go (CAYG) and GMP practices
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and engineers
• Support engineers by reporting faults and helping track machine downtime
• Develop a solid understanding of multiple pieces of production equipment
• Follow all Health & Safety rules and procedures at all times
• Use PPE (personal protective equipment) correctly
• Report any hazards, incidents, or near misses
• Ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your team
• Following all food safety, hygiene, and quality procedures
• Maintaining excellent personal hygiene standards
• Supporting and promoting Clean As You Go (CAYG) practices
• Ensuring all work meets regulatory and customer requirements

Requirements:

• Good written and spoken English skills to effectively communicate with team members and supervisors.
• Previous experience in a fast‑paced factory environment, ideally within the food industry.
• Physical ability to lift and handle weights up to 25kg safely.
• Experience as Production Operative or knowledge of operating and maintaining production line equipment is advantageous.
• Knowledge of critical control points (CCPs) and food safety regulations is preferred.
