Denham Recruitment Ltd is recruiting for a Skilled Labourer / Multi-Trade Operative Trainee in the Midlands region. The role offers full-time, permanent employment with PAYE and a salary of £30,000–£35,000 depending on experience.

You'll gain hands-on experience across repair and maintenance projects and travel across the UK as needed. Hours are 40 per week, Monday to Friday, with travel and overnight stays potentially required.

Skilled Labourer / Multi-Trade Operative Trainee

Location: South East Birmingham (Solihull, Shirley, Marston Green, Sheldon, Bickenhill, Tyseley)
Salary: £30,000 £35,000 (depending on experience)
Type: Full-time, Permanent, PAYE

Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday 8am 5pm)

Overview

An excellent opportunity to join a growing contractor specialising in residential property repairs and insurance reinstatement works. This role is ideal for someone looking to develop a career in the trades, gaining hands‑on experience across a variety of repair and maintenance projects. Ideally you will have some labouring experience or multi‑trade experience.

Work is in the Midlands but also across the UK so some travel/overnight stays will be required (travel allowance/overnight allowance paid).

Skilled Labourer / Multi-Trade Operative Trainee Role

• Assist skilled tradespeople with day-to-day repair and reinstatement works
• Carry out basic multi-trade tasks (e.g. minor carpentry, patch plastering, basic plumbing)
• Support property repairs following insurance claims (flood, fire, escape of water, etc.)
• Ensure work areas are safe, clean and compliant with health & safety standards
• Travel to residential properties and support works on-site
• Assist with installation of kitchens, bathrooms, doors, flooring, and other fixtures
• Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and in line with health & safety regulations
• Communicate effectively with homeowners, office team and other trade colleagues

What We re Looking For

• Some experience in construction, labouring or property maintenance
• Experience working on insurance repairs to residential properties
• Willingness to learn and develop multi-trade skills
• Good work ethic, reliability and positive attitude
• Basic understanding of health & safety on site
• Full UK driving licence (held for at least 2 years) Essential
• Willingness to travel as required.
• As you will be liaising with clients/homeowners you will need good communication skills and be well presented.
• A DBS check will be required.
