Job summary

The Sixth Form Bolton is seeking a motivated Progress Coach to join our pastoral team. You will work with a cohort of students, delivering group tutorials and one-to-one coaching to help them overcome barriers and achieve their personal best.

This role offers term-time hours and a pro-rata salary, with opportunities to support progression to university, apprenticeships and employment. You will build trusting relationships, monitor attendance and progress, and work with parents, carers and staff

Qualifications

  • Experience of working one-to-one with young people in an educational setting.
  • Experience of supporting young people with pastoral, educational, emotional or mental-health needs.
  • A degree level education or equivalent, with emphasis on English and maths.
  • Flexible, collaborative and non-judgemental approach, with strong listening and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality one-to-one coaching and pastoral support to a cohort of students.
  • Plan and deliver engaging tutorial sessions that support students' academic, personal and professional development.
  • Monitor attendance, progress, retention and achievement data, setting targets and coordinating timely interventions.
  • Identify barriers to learning and work with students, parents and carers, safeguarding team and external agencies to address them.
  • Support students with study skills, English and maths, revision, time management, mental health and wellbeing, and progression planning.
  • Guide applications for university, apprenticeships, training and employment, including references and transition support.
  • Contribute to learner voice, student leadership, cross-college events, admissions interviews, induction and results services.
  • Manage student conduct and behaviour in line with College policies, using a fair, consistent and supportive approach.
