Job summary

Smile Education is recruiting a Sixth Form Pastoral Manager for a Solihull secondary school, offering £110–£140 per day with an immediate start.

You will support wellbeing, attendance and personal development of sixth form students, build positive relationships, and liaise with parents, teachers and external professionals. The role offers ongoing CPD and potential longer-term opportunities.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in pastoral, safeguarding, mentoring or student support role.
• Experience working with secondary-aged students, ideally within a sixth form or post-16 setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A calm, approachable and supportive manner.
• A good understanding of safeguarding and student wellbeing.
• Proactive, reliable and passionate about helping young people succeed.

Responsibilities

• Pastoral care and wellbeing of sixth form students.
• Build strong, positive relationships with students and provide guidance and mentoring.
• Monitor and support attendance, punctuality and engagement.
• Work with students to identify barriers to learning and put appropriate support in place.
• Support students with behaviour, motivation and personal development.

• Help students prepare for their next steps, including university, employment, apprenticeships and further education.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to meetings and pastoral reviews.

Are you an experienced Pastoral Manager, Pastoral Lead, Learning Mentor or Student Support professional looking for a rewarding role supporting young people through their sixth form education?

Smile Education is currently recruiting for a secondary school in Solihull looking for a dedicated and proactive Sixth Form Pastoral Manager to support the wellbeing, attendance, behaviour and personal development of students.

The Role

• Take responsibility for the pastoral care and wellbeing of sixth form students.
• Build strong, positive relationships with students and provide guidance and mentoring.
• Monitor and support attendance, punctuality and engagement.
• Work with students to identify barriers to learning and put appropriate support in place.
• Support students with behaviour, motivation, confidence and personal development.
• Liaise with parents, carers, teachers, SEN staff and external professionals where appropriate.
• Support safeguarding and respond appropriately to any concerns.
