Job summary

Monarch Education is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Officer to join a Birmingham secondary school on a full-time basis, starting ASAP. You will help students with wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, and engagement, working closely with the Head of Year and pastoral staff.

Experience as Learning Mentor, Behaviour Specialist, or Student Support Officer is ideal, with strong relationship-building and safeguarding commitment to support young people.

Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral support to students across the school.

• Deliver 1:1 and small group mentoring focused on behaviour, emotional wellbeing and personal development.
• Implement behaviour strategies and promote positive attitudes to learning.
• Build positive relationships with students, parents, carers and staff.
• Support students with SEMH, SEND, ADHD, or Autism as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to pastoral meetings.
• Uphold safeguarding policies and procedures.

Pastoral Support Officer – Full Time

We are currently seeking experienced and passionate Pastoral Support Staff to join a secondary school in Birmingham on a full-time basis, starting as soon as possible. This role would suit individuals with experience as a Learning Mentor, Behaviour Specialist, Pastoral Support Worker, or Student Support Officer who are committed to helping young people succeed both academically and personally.

You will play a key role in supporting students’ wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, and engagement, working closely with the Head of Year team and wider pastoral staff.

Location: Birmingham
Availability: Full-Time, Monday to Friday
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £120-170 Per Day

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide pastoral support to students across the school.
• Work alongside the Head of Year team to support student wellbeing, attendance, and behaviour.
• Support students within the school’s Behaviour Hub, helping them re-engage with learning.
• Deliver 1:1 and small group mentoring sessions focused on behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and personal development.
• Implement behaviour strategies and promote positive attitudes to learning.
• Build positive relationships with students, parents, carers, and staff.
• Support students who may be experiencing social, emotional, or behavioural difficulties.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to pastoral meetings where required.
• Uphold safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.

What We’re Looking For:

• Previous experience working as a Learning Mentor, Behaviour Specialist, Pastoral Support Worker, Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker, or similar role.
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
• Experience supporting students with SEMH, SEND, ADHD, or Autism is advantageous.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to motivate, mentor, and inspire young people.
• A calm, resilient, and proactive approach to supporting challenging behaviour.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
