Job description

Site Technician

Required to join their offices in East Kilbride, Stoke, and Carlisle. Our client is a leading specialist in delivering high-quality geotechnical testing of construction and civil engineering materials.

The Site Technician will prepare samples for testing activities and carry out tests using manual equipment. They will liaise with site supervisory contacts to ensure all works are completed to the customer's requirements satisfactorily. They should also be able to evaluate technical documents such as construction plans and customer specifications.

Materials Testing Technician / Site Technician Position Remuneration

• Salary: £24,000 - £28,000 (depending on previous experience)

• Hours: 0800 - 17:00 Mon-Fri (40 hours). Note: The role may require overtime, weekend, night shifts, and away-from-home work, so flexibility is essential.

Position Overview

• Liaise with site supervisory contacts to ensure all works meet customer requirements.
• Coordinate with other site teams for satisfactory completion of tasks.
• Carry out tests using manual equipment, ensuring compliance with UKAS accreditation.
• Prepare samples for testing activities.
• Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and checking of equipment.
• Evaluate technical documents such as construction plans and customer specifications.
• Be willing to travel for extended periods to customer projects.
• This role involves outdoor work, with potential night shift and weekend hours.
• Advise senior technicians and staff when quality standards are compromised and take corrective actions.
• Use tablets to record test information onsite and in the laboratory.
• Complete and submit worksheets accurately at the end of each shift.
• Maintain effective working relationships within the laboratory and on site.

Position Requirements

• Full clean driving license
• Construction industry experience (preferable)
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Word & Excel
• Good standard of English and Mathematics
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods
• Excellent organizational, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Flexibility for occasional overnight stays
