Job summary

Sapphire Utility Solutions, part of The Lanes Group, is seeking an experienced Site Supervisor in the Bamber Bridge area. You will oversee day-to-day operations, plan activities, supervise crews and subcontractors, and ensure high safety and quality standards on site.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will drive productivity, maintain records, and coordinate with clients and authorities while coaching and developing the on-site team. A hands-on leadership style is essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop operational teams to meet performance targets.
• Plan and coordinate daily works to ensure safe and efficient delivery.
• Supervise operatives and subcontractors on site.
• Conduct regular site visits and inspections.
• Maintain accurate records of labour, plant, materials and site resources.
• Produce and submit daily resource reports.
• Ensure crews have vehicles, equipment, materials and skills required.
• Liaise with clients, customers, local authorities and stakeholders.
• Deliver coaching, supervision and performance support to crews.
• Carry out quality site inspections and audits (minimum eight per month).
• Deliver toolbox talks and operational communications.
• Complete weekly fleet, plant and equipment inspections for maintenance/calibration.
• Adhere to HSEQ and welfare policies and monitor KPIs.
• Maintain training and competency records for operatives.
• Review and approve timesheets with telematics verification when required.

Hours: 50 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 6:00am to 4:00pm

The Role

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Site Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day management of operational crews, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

Reporting directly to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising site activities while driving performance, productivity, and Health & Safety compliance. This is a hands‑on leadership role that requires strong communication, people management, and operational skills.

Key Responsibilities

Your Duties Will Include, But Are Not Limited To

• Leading, motivating, and developing operational teams to achieve performance targets.

• Liaising professionally with clients, customers, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
• Delivering coaching, supervision, and performance support to crews.
• Carrying out quality site inspections, including a minimum of eight audits per month.
• Delivering toolbox talks, briefings, and operational communications.
• Completing weekly fleet, plant, and equipment inspections to ensure maintenance and calibration requirements are met.
• Ensuring adherence to all company Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality (HSEQ), and welfare policies.
• Monitoring and achieving client Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
• Maintaining accurate training and competency records for all operatives.
• Reviewing and approving timesheets, including telematics verification where required.
• Recording completed works accurately and ensuring all information is submitted within agreed timescales and budgets.
• Managing driver compliance in line with company policies and taking appropriate corrective action when required.
• Assessing workforce competence through the company competency assessment programme.
• Continuously developing your own skills and knowledge to support operational excellence.

• Competent in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Thorough understanding of Health & Safety legislation, policies, procedures, and safe systems of work.
• Strong operational knowledge and relevant industry qualifications/accreditations applicable to the role.
