Job summary

Sapphire Utility Solutions, part of the Lanes Group, seeks an experienced Site Supervisor to oversee day-to-day operations, plan and coordinate works, supervise crews, and ensure safety and quality across projects.

You will report to the Project Manager and drive performance, productivity, and HSEQ compliance while developing teams and maintaining client relationships. Strong leadership and planning are essential.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience supervising or managing operational crews within utilities, construction, highways, or a related industry.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent organisational and planning abilities.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and dispersed workforces.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • A proactive approach to Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance.
  • Thorough understanding of Health & Safety legislation, policies, procedures, and safe systems of work.

Responsibilities

  • Leading, motivating, and developing operational teams to achieve performance targets.
  • Planning and coordinating daily works to ensure safe and efficient delivery.
  • Supervising and managing operatives and subcontractors.
  • Conducting regular site visits and inspections.
  • Maintaining accurate records of labour, plant, materials, and site resources.
  • Producing and submitting daily resource reports.
  • Ensuring operatives have the vehicles, equipment, materials, and skills required to complete their work.
  • Liaising professionally with clients, customers, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
  • Delivering coaching, supervision, and performance support to crews.
  • Carrying out quality site inspections, including a minimum of eight audits per month.
  • Delivering toolbox talks, briefings, and operational communications.
  • Completing weekly fleet, plant, and equipment inspections to ensure maintenance and calibration requirements are met.
  • Ensuring adherence to all company Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality (HSEQ), and welfare policies.
  • Monitoring and achieving client Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Maintaining accurate training and competency records for all operatives.
  • Reviewing and approving timesheets, including telematics verification where required.
  • Recording completed works accurately and ensuring all information is submitted within agreed timescales and budgets.
  • Managing driver compliance in line with company policies and taking appropriate corrective action when required.
  • Assessing workforce competence through the company competency assessment programme.
  • Continuously developing your own skills and knowledge to support operational excellence.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Site Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day management of operational crews, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
