Job summary

A leading UK biscuit manufacturer in Cwmbran is seeking a Maintenance Technician. The role involves performing repairs, painting, and maintaining various areas in the facility. Candidates should have sound DIY knowledge and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to work autonomously. Previous experience in building and plumbing is a plus but not essential. This position focuses on enhancing workplace safety and efficiency.

  • Sound DIY knowledge.
  • Ability to multitask and understand departmental priorities.
  • Identifying and reporting damaged facility infrastructure and carrying out repairs of identified damage without instruction.
  • Self-motivated and able to work autonomously.
  • Practical and proactive approach to work – 'can-do' attitude.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Building/construction & plumbing experience is preferable but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Painting, decorating and maintaining our Bakery, Office and Colleague areas.
  • Repairs to floors, walls and ceilings.
  • Carry out pest-proofing identified in pest control audits.
  • Assist the duty engineer with reactive and planned plant breakdowns when required.
  • Carry out weekly water and gas meter readings.
  • Carry out weekly water softener checks, topping up salt containers as required.
  • Carry out monthly composite panel checks and record results.
  • Carry out monthly ladder checks and record results.
  • Complete all required health and safety documentation.
  • Complete all required food safety documentation.
  • Record and enter all required information on the Shire CMMS System.
  • Support on-site audits by third parties if required.

Our eight bakeries are located across the UK (Isle of Arran, Livingston, Blackpool, Llantarnam, Edinburgh, Kirkham, Batley & Dorset) with offices for supporting services in St Albans, Liverpool and Moreton.
