Job description

Job Opportunity: Site Services Engineer

Location: Carlton, Barnsley, S71 3HF - The home of Mr Kipling

Salary: Circa £45,300 per annum
Type: Permanent, Full-time (39 hours per week)

We are seeking a full-time, permanent Site Services Engineer to join our team at our Barnsley site. You will be a key team member, responsible for fault finding, reporting, maintaining, and improving various facilities and building systems across the site. Ensuring high standards of maintenance for plant cooling systems, steam boilers, water and compressed air systems, fire sprinkler systems, electrical, plumbing, and general building maintenance.

Responsibilities:
  • Implement maintenance activities to ensure full compliance with the manufacturing plan, minimizing disruptions.
  • Support engineering and manufacturing functions to maximize equipment utilization, achieving KPIs and optimal line efficiency aligned with safety, quality, and environmental policies.
  • Demonstrate safe working behavior and manage health & safety for staff and contractors.
  • Provide proactive engineering support based on your skills, experience, and initiative.
  • Communicate daily with the Facilities Team Manager to coordinate maintenance, engineering, and production priorities.
  • Collaborate with the Team Manager to prioritize tasks, ensuring quality, punctuality, and safe practices.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Multi-skilled with an electrical bias.
  • Recognized Engineering Apprenticeship, ONC/HNC, or equivalent qualification (e.g., Level 3 Electrical/Electronic Engineering).
  • Practical knowledge of Continuous Improvement (CI) tools and techniques.
  • Understanding of Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronic manuals and drawings.
  • IT literate.
  • Proactive, solutions-focused, and able to take initiative.

Working Hours:

Rotating shifts: Week 1 - 6am to 2pm, Week 2 - 8am to 4pm. Early finish on Fridays. One weekend in seven, 4 hours on Saturday and Sunday.
