Job summary

Northrop Grumman UK is seeking a Site Security Controller to protect people, facilities, information and reputation across New Malden and London sites. You will lead security policies, controls and compliance, working with government stakeholders and senior leaders to ensure accreditation and a strong security culture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead security governance and compliance for New Malden and London sites, ensuring accreditation of facilities.
  • Build relationships with Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) Principal Security Advisors and stakeholders.
  • Develop and communicate security policies, procedures and awareness initiatives.
  • Monitor effectiveness of physical, personnel and information security controls; identify improvements.
  • Manage security incidents, investigations and audits with escalation and resolution.
  • Act as Crypto Custodian for the Defence Operating Unit and support security teams.

Opportunity Overview

As our Site Security Controller, you will play a pivotal role in protecting Northrop Grumman UK’s people, facilities, information and reputation across our Defence Operating Unit in New Malden and our UK Headquarters in Central London. Operating at the heart of our security function, you will lead the management and maintenance of security policies, procedures and controls that underpin our accredited government‑sponsored facilities. Working closely with customers, government stakeholders, facilities, compliance teams and senior leaders, you will help ensure our business remains secure, compliant and ready to deliver mission‑critical capabilities. This is an opportunity to influence security strategy, drive best practice, and act as a trusted security advisor within a highly respected defence organisation. Your work will directly support the growth and success of Northrop Grumman UK while enabling our teams to deliver critical solutions to customers across the defence sector.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Lead the security governance and compliance activities for our New Malden and London sites, ensuring continued certification and accreditation of operational facilities.
  • Build strong relationships with Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) Principal Security Advisors and other key stakeholders to maintain robust security standards.
  • Develop, maintain and communicate security policies, procedures and awareness initiatives that promote a strong security culture across the business.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of physical, personnel and information security controls, identifying opportunities for improvement and risk reduction.
  • Manage security incidents, investigations and audit activities, ensuring timely reporting, escalation and resolution of security risks and non‑compliance issues.
  • Act as Crypto Custodian for the Defence Operating Unit and provide leadership, guidance and support to local security personnel and wider business teams.
What We’re Looking For
  • Significant experience operating as a senior security representative within a defence, government or highly regulated environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK Government security standards, policies and frameworks, including JSP440, GovS007 and related security guidance.
  • Experience developing, implementing and improving security policies, standards and compliance processes.
  • Expertise across physical security, information security and personnel security controls.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels and balance security requirements with business objectives.
  • A proactive, self‑motivated approach with experience leading change, managing competing priorities and working independently.
Desirable Experience
  • Previous experience within a UK Ministry of Defence environment.
  • Knowledge of Defence Nuclear security controls and associated regulatory requirements.
  • Experience managing security investigations and responding to complex security incidents.
  • Experience leading or line managing security teams.
