Job summary

XPO Logistics Leigh is seeking a Site Operations Manager to lead transport and warehouse activities, taking full accountability for a safe and efficient site. You will manage a team, coach staff, and maintain strong relationships with customers and stakeholders to ensure service levels meet XPO standards.

The role requires CPC and IOSH qualifications with a process-driven leadership style and a track record of delivering results in fast-paced environments.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Transport/Distribution/Operations Manager in a 3PL environment.
• Proven people management and leadership abilities.
• CPC holder and IOSH qualification are essential.

Responsibilities

• Take full operational accountability for the Leigh site and ensure safety and efficiency.
• Coach and develop colleagues, delivering the right level of support.
• Manage customer relationships and communicate with stakeholders.
• Ensure teams align with XPO policies and procedures.
• Assist Contract Manager with compliance and safety obligations.
• Execute daily plan for deliveries and collections with available resources.
• Collaborate with onsite customer for reviews and presentations in the Manager's absence.

Is operating effectively in a transport / warehouse environment one of your strengths? Is coordinating drivers and ensuring you run a safe and efficient operation a day-to-day occurrence for you? Do you find building strong and sustainable relationships with stakeholders a habit? If so, we are looking for a Site Operations Manager to join us, on a full time, permanent basis, to be based out of the Leigh site.

The salary on offer will be up to £40,000. We also offer 25 days’ holiday (including bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days. You’ll have access to a variety of high street discounts, as well as a cycle to work scheme, a workplace pension and many other benefits.

What You’ll Do On a Typical Day

• Take full operational accountability and responsibility for your site, effectively managing your time to ensure a safe and efficient service
• As a true people manager, you will focus on ensuring that your colleagues receive the right level of support, coaching and development
• Manage the relationship between XPO and our customers, constantly communicating across various stakeholders
• Ensure that all teams are aligned, operating to XPO standard policies and procedures
• Support the Contract Manager with adherence to all compliance and legal obligations with a huge emphasis on safety, deputising in their absence
• Assist with executing the daily plan for all deliveries and collections, with a keen eye on resource available at site and keep the customer updated
• Working closely with the onsite customer on a day-to-day basis, you’ll support with period reviews and customer presentation in the contract managers absence.
• Provide leadership and guidance for your team to enable them to meet objectives, encouraging open communication

What You Need To Succeed At XPO

• Ideally you will already be a Transport/Distribution/Operations Manager working in or having experience in a 3PL environment , looking to prove yourself in a complex and diverse operation.
• A People manager and leader with a collaborative approach to achieving results
• A National/International CPC holder
• I.O.S.H Qualification
• Process driven
• You will have a track record of providing solutions to problems and delivering results in a fast paced environment
