Job summary

Smiths (Gloucester) Ltd is seeking an Operations Supervisor for the MV site near Gloucester. The role involves supervising field operations, coordinating staff, and ensuring safe, compliant waste processing across the depot and recycling facility.

You will work outdoors, report to the site manager, and contribute to continuous improvement. Hours are 7:00am to 5:00pm with occasional extended hours; salary £36k-£45k depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in waste recycling operations preferred.
• Hold or work towards COTC/TCM and WAMITAB Level 4 Transfer/Treatment Non-Hazardous.
• IOSH Managing Safely preferred.
• Training will be provided after probation.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day site activities to ensure safe, efficient operations.
• Allocate labour, plant and resources to meet outputs.
• Ensure areas, plant, and stockpiles are managed to minimise downtime.
• Monitor materials to maintain quality and productivity.
• Maintain open, staffed site per scheduled hours and shifts.
• Enforce Health & Safety rules and PPE usage.
• Lead and manage site staff, drivers, and contractors.
• Maintain records, site diaries, and shift reports.
