Job summary

Smith's (gloucester) Limited is seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to support our Logistics and Waste Operations. You will conduct site inspections, provide practical safety guidance and drive compliance across multiple sites and depots to promote a strong safety culture.

The role suits someone with NEBOSH General Certificate and solid knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, who can build relationships with managers, drivers and site personnel while promoting safe working practices.

Qualifications

• Experience within logistics, transport, waste management or recycling operations.
• NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
• Good understanding of current UK health and safety legislation.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• IOSH Membership (or working towards).

Responsibilities

• Conducting site inspections, audits and workplace safety assessments.
• Providing practical health and safety advice and support to operational teams.
• Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses and helping implement corrective actions.
• Supporting the development of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
• Delivering toolbox talks, safety briefings and awareness campaigns.
• Monitoring compliance with health and safety legislation and company procedures.
• Producing health and safety reports and performance data.
• Promoting a positive and proactive safety culture across all sites and depots.
