Job summary

Smiths (Gloucester) Ltd is recruiting machine operators to join our Gloucester recycling centre team. We seek experienced operators, ideally with 360 excavator and telehandler experience.

Training can be provided for the right candidate, with a family-run ethos and strong health and safety focus. Responsibilities include loading/unloading HGVs, operating heavy plant to process waste, and maintaining yard operations.

Qualifications

• Experience operating telehandlers and 360 excavators is preferred.
• Previous plant operating background is advantageous, training may be provided.
• Adequate understanding of safety and site rules is required.

Responsibilities

• Load/unload HGVs with a telehandler.
• Operate 360 excavator to handle, sort and process waste.
• Use telehandler to empty skips.
• Sweep the yard and maintain cleanliness.
• Fuel and maintain machines.
• Load containers with teletruck.
• Move baled waste around site.
• Load conveyor belt and waste hopper with excavator.
• Ensure a steady material supply to shears, shredders and balers.

With depots in Avonmouth, Cardiff, Gloucester, Stonehouse and Tewkesbury we operate predominately across the South-West of England. We specialise in Construction, Waste Management, Plant Hire, Demolition and Transport operations.

We are recruiting for machine operators to join the team at our recycling centre in Gloucester. We are looking for experienced operators to join our team ideally with experience on both 360 excavators and telehandlers. Experienced plant operator preferred but not essential as training can be given to the right candidate.

Responsibilities for the job role:

• Loading/unloading HGVs with telehandler
• Operating 360 excavator to handle, sort and process waste
• Use of telehandler to empty skips
• Sweeping yard
• Fuelling machines
• Loading containers with teletruck
• Moving baled waste
• Load conveyor belt and waste process hopper with 360 excavator
• Ensure a steady supply of material to shears, shredders and balers using machine
