Job summary

Biffa is seeking an Operations Manager to support the day-to-day running of a 24/7 site operation, overseeing the processing of plastic, cans and glass. You will work closely with Safety, Engineering, Logistics and Quality teams to drive performance, compliance and staff development.

Reporting to the Site Manager, you will manage budgets, review H&S statistics, and create production reports that identify trends and improvements, while deputising for the Site Manager as required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing operations in fast-paced environments.
• Strong leadership and people development skills.
• Solid knowledge of health, safety, environment and ISO standards.
• Experience with budgets, costs and interpreting financial performance data.
• Practical engineering, operational and logistics understanding.
• IOSH certification (minimum) and COTC Level 4 desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve the safety culture and review weekly H&S statistics.
• Oversee safe operation of facilities in line with business needs and site permit.
• Contribute to achieving the P&L budget for the year.
• Monitor performance against targets and identify improvements.
• Address safety non-conformities and communicate findings to the Safety and Compliance Manager.
• Create production reports and collate data for management trend analysis.
• Manage production-related tasks of moderate to high complexity.
